    We are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Manager to support the delivery of a major construction project in South East, New Mexico.

    This is a senior leadership position for an experienced construction professional with a strong background in large-scale, complex construction projects, ideally within the nuclear, energy, industrial, or highly regulated sectors.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for providing senior construction leadership across project delivery, contractor performance, construction planning, quality, safety, schedule, and risk.  Extensive experience of developing contracting strategies for large construction contracts to mitigate client risk is essential.

    This role will work closely with the client, contractors, consultants, project controls, commercial, engineering, and other project stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of the project.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Provide senior leadership and oversight of construction activities across a major energy project.
    • Lead construction delivery from Engineering through execution, commissioning, and closeout.
    • Manage and oversee large, complex construction and EPC contracts, ensuring contractual obligations, scope, and deliverables are clearly understood and maintained.
    • Identify, assess, and proactively manage contractual, commercial, and construction risks.
    • Review contract requirements, scopes of work, contractor obligations, changes, notices, claims, and potential areas of commercial exposure.
    • Work closely with commercial and project controls teams to manage change orders, variations, claims, delays, and cost impacts.
    • Monitor contractor performance against contractual requirements, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and project objectives.
    • Provide senior-level oversight of construction schedules and progress, identifying potential delays and recovery requirements.
    • Lead construction coordination meetings and drive accountability across contractors and project stakeholders.
    • Support resolution of technical, construction, contractual, and commercial issues.
    • Ensure construction activities are executed in accordance with applicable Client, environmental, health and safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
    • Promote a strong safety and quality culture across all construction activities.
    • Review construction methodologies, sequencing, logistics, constructability, and site execution plans.
    • Coordinate closely with engineering and design teams to resolve constructability and field issues.
    • Provide regular reporting to senior leadership on construction progress, risks, schedule, cost, quality, safety, and contractor performance.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with the client, contractors, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders.
    • Support procurement, contractor selection, bidding, and contract negotiation activities where required.
    • Provide leadership and mentoring to construction management professionals and wider project teams.
    • Proactively identify opportunities to improve project delivery, reduce risk, and protect the client's interests.

  • Who we’re looking for:

    Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills

    • 10+ years of construction management experience, with significant experience leading major or complex construction projects.
    • Proven experience managing large-scale construction contracts, EPC contracts, or major capital project contracts.
    • Strong understanding of contract administration, contractual risk, commercial exposure, claims, change management, and dispute resolution.
    • Experience managing major construction contractors and subcontractors.
    • Previous experience within the nuclear sector is highly desirable.
    • Alternatively, strong experience within industrial, energy, oil & gas, petrochemical, advanced manufacturing, or other highly regulated construction environments will be considered.
    • Experience working on projects with significant safety, quality, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
    • Demonstrated experience managing construction teams on large, complex projects.
    • Strong understanding of construction planning, scheduling, cost management, quality, and risk.
    • Ability to interpret complex contract documents, scopes of work, and contractual requirements.
    • Proven ability to identify contractual risks and potential commercial exposure and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
    • Experience managing contractor claims, change orders, delays, and disputes.
    • Strong communication, negotiation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.

    Nuclear / Regulated Environment Experience

    Candidates with experience in the following environments would be particularly relevant:

    • Nuclear construction and major nuclear projects
    • Nuclear power generation
    • Nuclear fuel cycle facilities
    • DOE or federally regulated projects
    • Industrial processing facilities
    • Oil & gas / petrochemical
    • Large-scale energy infrastructure
    • Advanced manufacturing
    • Other highly regulated, safety-critical construction environments

    Experience working within environments governed by rigorous quality assurance, safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements is strongly preferred.
