The Nuclear Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for nuclear construction projects, including new builds, upgrades, modifications, and decommissioning activities. This role supports project planning, budgeting, bidding, and cost control while ensuring compliance with nuclear regulatory requirements, safety standards, and quality assurance protocols.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop detailed cost estimates for nuclear construction projects across all phases (conceptual, preliminary, and definitive).
Analyze drawings, specifications, technical documents, and scope statements.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
- Evaluate labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and indirect costs.
- Incorporate nuclear-specific requirements including QA/QC, safety, security, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, project management, and field teams to validate scope and assumptions.
- Conduct risk analysis and develop contingency estimates.
- Review and analyze subcontractor and vendor bids.
- Maintain historical cost databases and benchmarking metrics.
- Support bid proposals and client presentations.
- Assist with change order pricing and cost impact analysis.
- Ensure estimates comply with company procedures and nuclear industry regulations.
