  • About this opportunity

    Remote with occasional onsite travel
     
    The Nuclear Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for nuclear construction projects, including new builds, upgrades, modifications, and decommissioning activities. This role supports project planning, budgeting, bidding, and cost control while ensuring compliance with nuclear regulatory requirements, safety standards, and quality assurance protocols.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Develop detailed cost estimates for nuclear construction projects across all phases (conceptual, preliminary, and definitive).
      Analyze drawings, specifications, technical documents, and scope statements.
    • Perform quantity takeoffs for civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
    • Evaluate labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and indirect costs.
    • Incorporate nuclear-specific requirements including QA/QC, safety, security, and regulatory compliance.
    • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, project management, and field teams to validate scope and assumptions.
    • Conduct risk analysis and develop contingency estimates.
    • Review and analyze subcontractor and vendor bids.
    • Maintain historical cost databases and benchmarking metrics.
    • Support bid proposals and client presentations.
    • Assist with change order pricing and cost impact analysis.
    • Ensure estimates comply with company procedures and nuclear industry regulations.
  • Who we’re looking for:

     

    Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills

    • 5+ years of estimating experience in industrial construction; nuclear project experience strongly preferred.

    • Strong knowledge of nuclear construction practices, safety standards, and regulatory frameworks.

    • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Primavera, ProEst, HeavyBid, or similar).

    • Advanced Excel skills.

    • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

    • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field (or equivalent experience).
